Don't worry.. Be Happy

I worry - A LOT and I wish I didn't and it probably wont even change but maybe having a written down example as to why I shouldn't worry will give me a sort of tangible reminder that it (the worrying thing) can be fine!

So last Wednesday I had a job interview and it was extremely important to me because it's a job I really want. After applying I had to wait over 3 weeks for a reply and as it was my second time applying for the role (different recruiting schemes) I wasn't optimistic at all but I was overjoyed when I saw I had an interview.
I decided (even though this was in November) that I wanted to be interviewed in January as it'd give me time to acclimatise and be prepared. It did work, I felt fully confident I knew what to do in the interview. On Wednesday I was going shopping with Hollie (I've mentioned her before) and we made it back a little late. I didn't panic too much because it wasn't too far away, I then looked at my confirmation email to check what I needed to take and found that I was supposed to attend 30 minutes before the interview.. queue a major panic!
I met Holl at the bus stop and cried my eyes out, I was so scared that I wouldn't be interviewed because of how late I was.. by the time I got there I was about an hour late including the turning up half an hour early. To calm me down Holl decided we'd be best off walking to another bus stop that was further away and all the while she was saying so much encouraging things ('you'll be fine, loads of people turn up late', 'they're not gonna say you can't be interviewed.. they'll probably be happier you came at all rather than leaving it') but in my head it just wasn't working, I wasn't able to calm down until I got there!
When I eventually made it there wasn't a single thing to worry about, the security guard confirmed everything holl was saying, apparently everyone had turned up late! The interview turned out to be the best interview I could've had, one of the interviewers was a slightly older version of me, the other interviewer was dumbstruck because of it!

The whole point of that story is that if I hadn't gone, if I didn't have my bestfriend calming me down I would have worried myself to a point of going home and regretting it for the rest of my life! Im certainly a 'when the going gets tough - the tough get going' kind of girl and I think I may always be and I don't know why.. I just really need to change it because one day I wont have people that will calm me down and I will just end up quitting and leaving it.

The moral of this post is: You'll never know unless you try.. don't just leave something without even giving it a go because you could end up seriously regretting it!

The other moral is: when your bestfriend tells you it'll be fine.. listen cause shes probably right!P.S. if your reading this holl, thank you so much, I honestly don't think I'd have gone if it hadn't been for you re-assuring me and convincing me it'd be fine, I cannot thank you enough, Love you!

So yeah, this was just to show that if you just try you never know what  could happen, I am for sure glad I tried and im sure you all will be!

Good bye 2014.. Hello 2015!

Now I can't exactly say this year has been a bad one because it has been full of amazing experiences and I have no regrets but at the same time I am ready to welcome 2015 with open arms, WIDE open arms. I've decided to do a recap of 2014 because not only is it nice to think over all the times I had this year, but I can share it with you guys because I started my blog over halfway through the year so yeah! Having thought about it I don't want to share the lows but just know there were some!

2014

  • University offers - So I got offers for the universities I really wanted to go to, and even though I didn't go to university I'm still happy I got those offers. To me it meant that they thought I was potentially good enough to go to the universities. Whether that's something that would give others comfort I don't know but it makes me happy! (Similarly I found out I had enough UCAS points to go to both my choices of uni)
  • Exam Results - So on the 14th of august like most 18 year olds in the UK I was waiting with bated breath to find out my exam results.. I was really happy with them because I had passed all of my exams, while I never got even close to an A (maybe not even a B) I was still happy because as hard as I worked I didn't think I'd have passed anything so to have passed I was just really happy!
  • 18 - So this year is the year that all of my friends turned 18 (minus 1 who was already 18) and it meant there were lots of 18th birthday parties and then after I had turned 18 - great nights out!
  • My Blog - So obviously this is a good part of my year.. I started my blog and have now been writing it for 4 months (and a bit) so Im still relatively new but I'm amazed at how far its come already.. I'm not too far off of 100 followers which to me in 4 months is great!

So this has been the main highlights of my 2014 and I mean the big things (my memory isn't the best so there are tonnes more that I can't think of) but I hope you all had a great 2014 and that 2015 is just as good if not better!

As a little footnote I'd like to add that in 2015 I would like my readers (while few.. I know you exist!) to interact more.. I would love for more readers to be leaving comments and things purely to put a name to a number! To try and kick start this I would like you to leave in the comments - what you enjoyed about 2014.. or your new years resolutions. Also don't be afraid of self promotion, if you have a blog leave me the link.. I'm always looking for more blogs to read!

New Years Resolutions #newyearnewme?

Okay so today is the 29th meaning its 2 days until new years eve, so what better idea is there than to share with you my resolutions.. I'm not going to lie I don't tend to make that many resolutions because I end up forgetting about them by the end of January but I've figured if its up on line then what excuse do I have to not do them? So yeah.. lets go!

  1. Just like every year I would like to try and reach my goal weight which I haven't decided on yet but I guess I'll know when I'm happy with what I see!
  2. I want to have done my 19 before 19 obviously because I'll turn 19 but yeah I want to have done it I'll make sure I keep you updated on how I go with that haha!
  3. Take my dog for more walks.. to be honest she's not the walking dog like she is happy enough not going for walks and she'd rather not but I think it'll be good for both of us!
  4. I want to do more with my friends as a group.. I mean they say you start the year as you mean to go on and I shall be with them (give or take a few) and we'll be drinking so what does that tell you about my year ahead?
  5. The next resolution is to eat healthier, I eat so much crap at the moment and I don't eat properly either like I don't eat breakfast all the time because I can't always be bothered.
  6. I want to see my family more, I don't spend enough time with my family at all I only really see like my immediate family and I should spend more time with the rest because there are so many things going on but I don't know much about it all because I'm so out of the loop with it all!
  7. I want to start taking care of myself more like not just the way I eat but my sleeping pattern, what I do in a day (cause I can tell you it isn't alot)
  8. I want to start getting out of my comfort zone, like theres not a lot I'll do on my own, the furthest I go on my own (if I don't have to be on my own) is the town centre which isn't very far away just to let you know.
So I think for me this is a lot of resolutions, like I don't usually make this many but because I'm writing a post about it I've thought about it a lot more than I would usually and this is stuff I know that I can do and they're realistic as long as I try (and I will try)! I hope 2015 is extremely good to you all Happy new year!

It's Christmas time - 10 favourite christmas songs!

You know what I'm not feeling the Christmas spirit and I feel that it's mainly because I'm not at school or college and there's no  run-up like I'd be excited to be off school and there'd be Christmas films and assemblies and as well as that I'm just older now so I think the magic has worn off quite a bit and that's sad but hopefully if I have my own children one day the magic will return! Anyway back to the point of that little story, I want to be festive so I shall make a list of 10 of my favourite christmas songs and they'll all be linked so you can listen to them too and become more festive!
  1. Do They Know it's Christmas? - Band aid 20/30
  2. Winter Wonderland/dont worry be happy - pentatonix and tori kelly
  3. It's Beginning to Look A lot Like Christmas - Union J
  4. Happy Xmas (War is over) - John Lennon
  5. The fairy tale of new york - The pogues and Kirsty MacColl
  6. One more sleep - Leona Lewis
  7. Oh Santa - Mariah Carey
  8. Rockin around the christmas tree -  Mel and Kim
  9. Mistletoe - Justin Bieber
  10. I wish it could be christmas everyday - Wizzard
  11. santa tell me - Ariana Grande*
So this has been my favourite christmas songs, I hope you listen to them and get into the festive spirit and let me know in the comments your favourite christmas songs!

The Christmas Tag!

So it is 9 days until Christmas and I still haven't done a christmasy post so here we have the Christmas tag, Have a good one!

1. What is your favorite Christmas film?

My favourite Christmas film is probably elf, the grinch (I love doctor seuss) or a recent favourite 'A royal Christmas' with Lacey Chabert (Gretchen Wieners in mean girls). I much prefer Christmas specials of TV shows especially the Gavin and Stacey ones!

2. Have you ever had a White Christmas?

Yeah a few times, there have been times where it actually snows on Christmas, and others where it's been snowing a few days before Christmas. As many people will know the weather in the UK is very unpredictable, so much so that people place bets on whether there'll be a white Christmas or not, I'm not sure if that's a thing in other countries so let me know, but I just find it funny!

3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?

Most years it will start off with my mum and dad at home and then we go to my nana's or auntie's and we'll have dinner and spend the rest of the day there.

4. What is your favorite Christmas song?

I love Leona Lewis' 'one more sleep' but I like 'All I want for christmas' by mariah carey too.. I like all of the classics too like 'do they know it's christmas' by band aids 20 and 30 and 'simply having a wonderful christmas time' by paul mccartney. I love most christmas songs to be honest

5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

No, I never have actually, I used to beg my mum to after hearing her stories about how she used to open one because my nannie worked in a pub on the late shift on christmas eve but because mum didn't I wasn't ever allowed to!

6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

There is rudolph, dasher, prancer, cupid, donner, vixen, blitzen, comet is that it? I feel like there's 8 but I'm not checking cause I don't want to cheat.. If anyone would like to you can verify it for me in the comments haha!

7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?

I'm not even sure if we have a tradition but I'm excited for the food cause it's my fave! I'm not even lying, I love sprouts!

8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Sadly it's fake, mum doesn't want all the needles everywhere but its still pretty, its white and all the decorations are in a sort of monochrome theme

9. What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?

Food would have to be the sprouts but for sweet treats, im not a sweet person like I have to be in the mood to eat sweets so I just like the quality streets!

10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

A bit of both because I love seeing the thought people have put into my presents and there is always something satisfying about ripping the paper off of the gifts but I do love going shopping and putting thought into other peoples presents and seeing there faces when they open it! Both make me really happy!

11. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?

Ooh I'm not sure, I always like everything I get so this is hard to decide, I think it might have been last year when I got my DSI XL and to be honest its not the DSI that I was happy about it was the fact that I used to have one before and it got stolen and I could hear my mum and dad talking about it without me knowing what it was and the excitement in their voices was just too much so them being so happy about it and that they made the effort to replace it made it a really good present!

12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

You know what I'm not going to say New York like lots of other people would, I honestly think it would be horrible and crowded and ridculous and I don't think I'd enjoy it at all, I would however like to go somewhere like Paris or even Lapland but I'd be just as happy going to Scarborough to see my Nannie!

13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?

It depends on the shape of the gift, if its just a normal square/rectangle box I can do it and it's fine but jumpers or any other thing I can't do at all!

14. Most memorable Holiday moment?

There are 2 both when I was really little, the first one was when my mum had gotten me and my brother the same stationary set but gender specific like mine was barbie I think and my brothers was tarzan but when she wrapped them she clearly forgot which one was which and when I opened it I had a tarzan one and I don't think I was too pleased and had to wait until I got to my nannies to swap it with jamie's. The second one I think was the year after and on christmas eve I was looking through the argos catalogue and found  barbie switchboard and I really wanted it, I'd never mentioned it to my mum at all until christmas eve and I begged and begged her to get me it and to my suprise when I woke up there it was, I think I must've been the happiest child ever!

15. What made you realize the truth about Santa?

I'm not even sure, I think it was just around the age when there are 'rumours' about it or it might have even been my brother, I feel like he would do something like that!

16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I do all the time, I constantly make the typical weightloss one and never ever stick to it to be honest I don't stick to any of the resolutions I make its very annoying actually!

17. What makes the holidays special for you?

Just spending time with my family and us all having a really nice day together which is always cute and lovely!

I hope you enjoyed this post and it got you into the festive spirit because it got me into it! There'll be another christmasy post next monday but I hope you all have a wonderful christmas and that you have a nice time whatever you are doing!

My Favourite Face Products

Okay so I'm not a beauty blogger nor will I ever be one but I am a girl and one that struggles to find decent face products at that and I feel that I have found my staples - products I never want to be without.. so why should I be selfish and keep them to myself?

First of all I like to keep my morning routine to a minimum and as effortless as possible therefore there are 3 products that I use and they are the garnier micellar water, the T-Zone moisturiser and exfoliating wipes

  • 'Spa - the art of beauty' 50p - I use these first and wipe all around my face focusing on my nose as I have oily skin there. I have an exfoliating face wash too but I prefer these as I've heard the little exfoliating things are bad for the environment and hurt some animals (not too sure though), whereas the wipes just go in the bin and unless an animal gets into my rubbish then I'm not sure they do that much damage. I've noticed that they also help a lot with my oily skin throughout the day. I picked these up in home bargains and to say they're only cheap, they really are good

  • Garnier Micellar Water £3.33 - Now I mainly got this because of the hype.. I had heard so many good things about it and oh boy were they right! It feels just like im wiping my face with a damp cotton pad, it doesn't sting and it doesn't smell of anything either. As well as that I've used it everyday for about a fortnight and there's barely any gone, when it says 200 uses I certainly believe it and for £3.33, you cannot go wrong!

  • T-Zone Skin Clearing Face Moisturiser £1-£2 - I'm not going to lie, I don't usually like T-Zone products in fact I think it was the cleanser by them that caused my oily skin (not sure though) but I thought surely not all the products can be bad so I tried it out and I now love it, I can't remember precisely how much it was but I know it was cheap so yeah, bonus!

So none of these products break the bank at all and that was mainly 'cause I don't like buying costly products that wont be any good or be good to my skin so while I'm still trying new products I don't want to spend too much but I mean who does? So yeah if you're in the market for new products I'd definitely recommend you buy these as they're really good!

What to do when your sick!

Today I'm very poorly and I considered leaving my blog for this week because it was effort just reaching for my laptop but I decided to turn a negative into a positive and used my being ill as inspiration for today's post!

  1. one thing I like to do when I'm poorly is to put my favourite film on usually that's the cat in the hat or angus thongs and perfect snogging or maybe the notebook, it depends on my mood
  2. I also like to find a book to read especially if I have a headache, I find it more peaceful than watching the TV.
  3. When I'm poorly my favourite thing to eat is tinned tomato soup or chicken noodles, if Im that poorly im throwing up or it hurts to swallow then its tomato soup but if its just that I feel a tad under the weather then I'll eat the noodles.
  4. Like most poorly people I mainly stay in bed for the full day but if im poorly for over two days I get bored easily and I have to curl up in the front room on the sofa.
  5. to me when I'm ill its important to keep as comfy as possible, I plump all my pillows up, grab some extra cushions and curl up with my hot water bottle.
  6. The best thing to do when your poorly is have the heating on and drink lots of water, it can help because you will sweat more and help the illness leave your body quicker.
  7. depending on my illness, I'll take a very hot bath, if I feel sick it makes it worse so I usually just do that if I'm achey.
  8. I will also take some medication so if I have a cold I just take some cold/flu tablets or whatever medicine will help me out!
I don't want to actually spend too long on this as I'm really tired and I can't think of much else that I do so yeah I'll leave it here, if you're poorly and your reading this I hope it gives you some comfort and ideas of what to do whenever your poorly and I wish you a speedy recovery and if your not poorly, thanks for reading anyway and I hope you also get ideas of what to do when you're poorly
