School (and the things we all did)

I am so sorry for how long it's been since I last posted, I wanna say I've been a bit busy and it wouldn't strictly be a lie buuut it hasn't exactly stopped me from posting so it'd be a bad excuse! Anyway for this post, I'm going to be going down memory lane once more and delving into things we all did in secondary school!

    1. Walking into school one morning and your mate reminds you about that piece of homework you had to do and having a mad rush to either get the work done or think of a good excuse. An alternative to this was definitely spending the lesson praying the teacher and the teacher's pet also forgot about the work!

    1.  Getting home from school and logging into msn as fast as possible.. just to speak to the same people you've seen all day at school, and who can forget the prehistoric facetime that was webcam chat.

    1.  Speaking of msn.. did anyone else put ALL of their friends in their PM in order of their faves and then either demoting people that you're in a mood with to a really crap emoticon or just full on taking them off your name!

    1.  Also... remember the dark age before Facebook and we had Myspace? Yep, before the days of captioning photos with song lyrics or emoji's.. we had 'comment 4 comment' and top 10 friends

    1.  Every time you had a substitute teacher.. it was kind of standard practice to wind them up a bit and just give them general grief for the entire lesson! Chances were, you'd never see them again OR you'd get the over confident bloke who bantered on with the lads a bit too much and didn't really care what anyone else was getting up to.

    1.  Cooking and PE on the same day? NIGHTMARE! Not only did you have to carry your PE-kit as well as your school bag (which was obviously fully equipped with a full pencil case and god knows what else you thought you needed for school) but now you had to carry all of your cooking stuff too which sometimes included massive casserole dishes as well as ingredients. This is even worse when you don't have lockers to dump your things in till the specific lesson.

    1.  Also.. was it just my food tech teacher that would bring the entire class round the table to talk about what we've done, just before it was time to take our things out of the oven? I swear, I was nearly always 20 seconds away from having black scones!

    1. It can't have just been our PE teachers either that had ZERO sympathy for us. Cold day? 'get out there, it's not even cold'. Hardly able to breath when on your 2/3 laps of the massive running track? 'If you don't go any faster Hayley, I'll make you do an extra lap'. Someone hits you in the foot full force with a hockey ball? 'you should've worn more appropriate shoes, rather than plimsolls', They had zero empathy, letting us freeze while they've got a massive hoody on or a rain coat.

    1.  When there was always a rumour going about that 2 of your teachers were seeing each other. Turns out, ours actually were, They got married a couple of years ago!

    1. Being asked to hand out the text books and giving the people you liked least the scabbiest one. Not only that, and I don't know if it was just in our school, but writing or following people instructions in the textbooks e.g. 'go to page 184' and following it to end up on a page that said something so daft like 'If you read this, you suck' or other, less pleasant, variations.

    1. Your mum buying you a uniform a size or two too big so it'll last longer. Fortunately, we changed to the fetching blazers in my photos in like year 10 and I wasn't doing much growing so mum actually got me the right size!

    1. Finishing  an exam and discussing answers with your friend only to realise that one of you got it spectacularly wrong cause she got 82 and you got 28... This was such a regular occurrence for me, absolute nightmare!

    1. Highlighting anything and everything when the teacher said 'highlight the key bits' because in your head, the colour of William the conqueror's top was a key factor in the beginning of the battle of Hastings.. Obviously…

    1. Trying to catch your friends eye during an exam, not to cheat.. No of course not, it was to pull funny faces at them!

    1. All running to the designated fight place as soon as you heard there was gonna be one! Ours was a 'swirly' (not anymore) hill down the road from school, just far enough that people thought the teachers wouldn't get involved.. They always did though, as soon as there was a whiff of the entire school running to swirly hill!

    1. Now a lesson with a supply teacher was NEVER complete without winding them up something rotten! There was one teacher who was a regular supply at our school and he had my class for English, I spent the best part of the lesson arguing with him that he was attempting to teach us the wrong thing.. I wasn’t even lying, he was trying to teach us something we learned in year 8 so it was for the year 8 class he'd have that day.. Definitely not us! He was so used to the winding up that he didn't believe me until he actually checked the lesson plan our teacher had left for him!

    1. When your teacher sends to go and get something from another class or part of the school so you just walk as slowly as possible and do anything to stay out of the class for as long as possible! What was better was when you got to go into your friends class and speak to them while you're 'on a  message'

    1. Did anyone elses PE teacher whinge on about everything? Spraying deodorant, drinking lucozade, eating generally unhealthy foods… cause mine did so often!

    1. Using any slight injury to go to the medical room and get out of lessons! Now this is something I did so often, once I got kicked in the knee by a boy in english class and I properly played on it, asked my teacher if one of my friends could take me to the medical room and limped the entire way there in case any teachers saw!

    1. Lastly, I know for a fact that this wasn't just me and my friends or my school - Using music and art lessons as a general fuck-about. Art was more so for me because I did it longer than I di music but they were literally an hour of doing the bare minimum work and just messing on! We used to dance about in the art cupboard while pretending we needed supplies or sitting in the other part of the art room where our teacher rarely went pretending we were using the projector or something.. Little tinkers we were!

So that has been school and the things we all did.. Perhaps not everyone but I know plenty of people did do these things and of course we found ourselves hilarious, thought we were mint the lot, what a scream! Let me know if there's things on here that you didn’t do or maybe there are things you did that aren't on the list, I wanna know!!

Random thoughts #laziness

Good (insert time of day while reading this) to you, obviously my title has been quite misleading  thinking you would now be reading an interesting, perhaps even funny post and you will not be reading such a thing. You are now however committed to reading it and I am trusting you to carry on reading past this point so no clicking off now!

Every now and then I will have the odd silent moment to myself where I have the chance to think about really random things/situations so I am now going to fill this post with as many random things that I can think of that I have thought to myself about.

* What would it be like to be the pope? It's common knowledge with the people that know me, I would love to be the pope.. I literally don't fully know why, all I know is that of all the people/roles in the world I would love to be the pope. I genuinely think it would be great to drive about in the pope mobile for the day!

* it's so weird that when things get sent to the queen for her royal ascent, she never says no because if so many people want it (enough for the paper to be sent to her) then who is she to deny it. My law teacher even says she wouldn't even say no if it was to get rid of the monarchy - I would personally say no if I was the queen but each to their own.

*Speaking of the queen, what does she think about, what does she really love doing, does she enjoy reading, does she knit? I bet she loves a good crossword or a sudoku. Also, has she ever changed any of the royal babies nappies or even anything of the sort.

*Who decided words are words and that they mean the things they mean. Like who decided to call the thing we sit on a chair, its mad!

*What do dogs actually think about? They have such chilled lives - what would my little cass say if she could speak to me? (Probably "get me a treat now")

*You know when someone is talking to you and they say 'is that OK?' what would they then do if you turned around and said 'well actually, no it's not OK' like honestly what would they do?

*What goes through peoples heads when they're so unnecessarily rude to other people? Don't get me wrong my skin is pretty thick, I can 100% take it from people but there's plenty of people that can't. Just an example is the other week I was at work and someone rang up and asked a question I physically couldn't answer, nor could anyone in the office (had they given me the chance to fully explain our process he may not have been so rude) but he ended the call by saying 'that's great that you cant answer my questions, thanks, bye.' there's just no need in it at all

*where do people that come up with horror stories get their imagination from, what actually possess' people to write such grim films.

It's been ages since I actually wrote something and for that I'm sorry, I just can never think of anything I want to write at all. It's so annoying, if you have any ideas or can think of anything that would be good, please let me know in the comments!

Strange things that are completely normal!

So a few days ago, I was thinking about some stuff and I realised there's so much that we do or that happens that's so normal but when you think about it, its actually so strange, so of course I decided to make a list of everything I thinks absolutely weird.

  1. Words/Nouns - I think its so strange that people came up with names for things and words and just decided that that's what things were, how did we decide that, just as an example, elephants would be called elephants or that the word there would point out the direction/ or position of something. Plus, who decided that letters would look the way they do? Did  someone just say it and it stuck.. was there meetings on it? I don't know but i'd actually love to :')
  2. Accents - On the subject of words, how is it that the place you grew up in determines the sound of your voice, I get now that it just a matter of children pick it up from the environment, but to start with, where did the accents come from, how is it that people from one end of England sound so different to people from the other en of England, its the exact same country! It actually does baffle me!
  3. Milk - There are so many weird things about milk that I don't get. Why do we drink something that is produced to feed the young of other animals, who decided we should drink it or that it was safe for us to drink it and what were they doing when they made such a profound discovery?
  4. Our body - When you think about it, like seriously think about it, our bodies are bloody mental, amazing but mental. First off, while we sit here, our bodies are pumping blood around, making antibodies, repairing cuts, even enabling me to write this and you to read this post - crazy right? Not just that but we also have one long uninterrupted tube going all the way through our body that takes our food, digests it, compresses it and then gets rid of it, now that is mad!
  5. Superstition - I am a really superstitious person, I won't step on three drains with out saying 'black magic', I wont walk under a ladder, I won't cross on the stairs without my fingers crossed and it's the same for walking under sign posts and scaffolding. To some it might be weird but I do it without even a second thought, it's almost like breathing to me.
  6.  The Earth - No matter where you are in the world, we will see the exact same sun, moon and stars as everyone else, we have a huge, huge planet but we still see the exact same things, that's crazy if you ask me. Not only that but the earth is so magic, it has it's own little system just to keep everything here alive, us, animals, plants... it's just like a giant ball of life giving gas and rock!
This post took a lot of thinking, but when you do think about it, there is so much stuff that if you just give it a tiny thought, you'll find weird too. If there are any points you agree with or even things you find really weird.. just leave it in the comments below, I'd love to hear some more weird things. Thanks for reading,

Short girl problems - from my point of view!

As a member of the vertically challenged community I am prone to many a problem. Some people might get offended when they get asked their age when they buy a 12 rated film but not me, I have developed a great sense of humour about the whole thing so what better to do than compile a list of all the problems that I come across on a regular basis because of my height!

  1. If I want something from the top shelf in the cupboard or a pan down from the shelf on the wall, you can bet that I'm climbing on something to get them. Trust me my calf muscles are great because of it!
  2. I am automatically an arm rest for anyone that decides to utilise that. When I was an altar girl at church I even became a bible rest for the vicar - love ya father haz!
  3. I constantly walk into the door handle with the top of my arm and it literally feels like I've been shot every time!
  4. When it rains (good old british weather), I always have to move my umbrella to a side when I walk past others, just so that I don't take someones eye out with it.
  5. I'm forever being asked to prove my age, not just when I'm buying alcohol either, I've been asked for my ID for buying energy drinks, 12 rated DVDs, 15 rated films at the cinema, you name it, if it has an age restriction I've been asked for it!
  6. When I get a photo with one of my friends, they have to bend down so we can both be in it, or the person taking it needs to be really far away!
  7. Unless I am in the 4 foot part of the pool, I'll be getting the best exercise ever because I'm doing my best to keep afloat
  8. Unless they're 3/4 length, my jeans/leggings and such will be rolled up, there is no chance that I'll wear them at there normal length because I think it makes me look even shorter than I am.
  9. On the topic of clothes, a lot of clothes for someone my body shape aren't always tailored to my body length (unless in the petite section of course) and this means that I end up with cloves that look way too long on me!
  10. Mirrors for people of average height are always a problem for me too, I have to tiptoe just to see more than my forehead, it's like am I a vampire cause I have no reflection? Nah Im just 4'11.
  11. On the same kind of wavelength, the counters at the pizza shop are ridiculous too, I can only just about see to order my kids pizza special!
  12. I always get the most shocked look in the world when I tell adults my age, followed by them asking my mum 'is she really? I thought she was 14!' legit every time!
  13. More than once, I've been asked whether I was stood up or not, mostly in the science lab though!
  14. I can very rarely crop a photo of me and someone else well because the height difference is too much, it is ridiculous:')
  15. Saving the worst problem for last, I haaaate taller people in crowds, or anywhere in front of me when I want to see! It just as bad at the cinema too, I swear im one more giraffe away from pouring drinks on the seats in front of me so no one can sit there!!!
I know I sound really whingy but there are just as many perks to being short as there are cons! For one you use a lot less fake tan when you need to tan your full body, you can sneak up on people miles easier, leg room is rarely an issue,on any vehicle, you can buy shoes from the junior section, I actually love being short, no lie!

IM BAAACK!!!

*Plays eminem in the background on repeat whilst writing*

Ok, so first things first, I'm so sorry I havent blogged in ages but don't worry, I assure you that I have been the busiest of bees recently and all will become clear!

Since the last time I wrote anything I would 100% LOVE to say that I've done all this amazing stuff but really it's been pretty slow. I guess I should start with I got a job (not too slow) I am now an apprentice at a commercial property consultants company and I love it! The people I work with are great and the job its self isn't awful.

As my job is an apprenticeship, I do still have coursework to do which means I'll still be busy after work. This shouldn't affect my blog though, I just thought I'd mention it in case it ever does.
On the subject of posts, I actually did go through a stage where I really wanted to plan all of my posts and, not kidding, I got all the way to the end of this month so there are a loooot of posts to look forward to which I will get on with ASAP!

I think that's it for now,  I'll probably start writing tomorrow maybe and I'll upload them as I finish them so yeah,

Blogging break / broken laptop

Okay so my laptop is broken (I'm doing this on my phone) so I won't be able to upload any posts until it's fixed which I don't know when that will be, the laptop is at my dads house right now and as soon and I dont know of a sustainable way (not on my phone - basically) to make 'okay' posts. I have lots of post planned for this month and I'm sad I can't do them but they will all be up when they can be!

I'm really sorry if this is disappointing news but it's not for forever so yeah, Ill see you when I can!

Memory Lane Monday!

In the last few weeks of year 11 like most people in the same year around the UK - I had a leavers book for everyone to sign (like a year book but better). I didn't fill the book so I decided I'd write a letter to myself in the future. It's been about 3/4 years since writing it and I decided I'd type it up and see what's changed since then (it's a lot). I think it's quite cringey but it's a nice thing to do because looking back at it, it helps me remember everything both before and around that time.

Dear Hayley,
Right now you're 15, 16 soon!! It's the 2nd of june and yesterday you left school and cried for an hour literally 'probably more though'. You've just read through your leavers book and cried again. Today your listening to the radio which makes a change because you're always watching some crap on TV 'no change there then'. You go to NCS soon and your really excited because it's with your bestfriend nicole 'after a huge argument (entirely my fault) and a year of not talking we're not bestfriends anymore but we're still friends. NCS was extremely good though'. Well you did it, you survived secondary school, one thats filled with idiots and bullies.. obviously ignorance is bliss 'told you it was cringy'
When you're older you want:
♥An old pink mini 'Changed to a new mint green soft top mini'
♥two children, a girl called Liberty-Skye and a boy called Niall 'Still true - I wonder where I got the boys name from'
♥a job in the police force 'cause you're offit'. 'Now I just want a job in admin'
Right now, your hair is ginger, you've been:
♥Brown
♥Browny-red
♥red
♥purple
♥Black 'I can now add blonde to that'
and you've dip dyed it twice three times now! You're really scared for college and your probably reading this thinking 'wtf.. it was a doddle!' 'not quite hayley, not quite' I don't doubt it was but you're pooing yourself for it now anyway! Last night was good at the leavers campout, it was hilarious Jane* shouting at everyone for being half seshes and then she went at like 10. You, col, liam, char and jamie stayed til midnight cause you's are offit. Ash and Neil* stayed all night bless them. The fire was nice too, you don't like Neil because he called you fat.. your not arsed anymore but you still don't like him. Oh god, the leavers assembly was cute as, there were a tonne of old photos that you didn't even remember being taken. The photo of Mr Miller made you and Holl cry the most cause it was just him. Shocking that he still isn't back isn't it, well he might be when your reading this. 'Sadly Mr miller isnt back and will not be back ever - he was sacked and more and more teachers have left' All I know is the best teacher you've ever had, all his little stories and everything!
Everyones written in here about your happiness and your always doing your best to smile when youd rather not . You'd be weird without your smile by the sounds of it! OMG your braces, I assume you'll have them off by now? Are they nice, are you looking after your teeth properly now? You can't wait to see! 'they are off but not in the conventional way (I took them off myself because im terrified of the orthadontist)'
You can be such a freak, do you know that? If you read some of the messages in here like the people you're close to, their hilarious! You were a stalker, an alcho, a fattie and a genuine weirdo! I hope you havent changed, here's all your favourite things:

Aw Hayley, I hope you've done well in school/college and go far 'I'd say I did well, I passed everything and got into uni.. I just didn't go'! In case you forget how offit you were, here is a picture to show you! At Teeside Uni, people were asked to do an experiment so you (thinking others from your school would) shot your hand up, turns out it was just you and creeps from teeside high, well done midge! Good luck and stay offit!
The photo mentioned

Wow what a long bloody letter that was! in case you're wondering, the names jane and neil are names that have been changed because I don't think I should keep their real names in but every one elses are real! also if you cant tell, the bits in the letter that arent in italics are me now so I've annotated it sort of. Like I said, its a really nice thing to do if like me you really like to hold onto memories, if your in your last year of school I definitely suggest you write a little letter to yourself for a few years time it's like a non-buried time capsule.

Im thinking of doing more 'memory lane monday' posts so if you have any ideas they would be more than welcome. I hope you enjoy my posts as much as I enjoy writing them, I mean I don't mind if you don't, I'm mainly writing them for me anyway but, it'd be v nice if more than just myself enjoyed reading them.
